About Hugo and Clay Productions
The founder of Hugo and Clay Productions is Ewan McPherson, award-winning and qualified filmmaker.
Having worked with hard to hard-to reach groups and in volunteer management most of my life, I decided to learn filmmaking one day while under lockdown. Fast forward to now, I’m the proud owner of a first class degree in Digital Film Production with a remarkable collection of achievements! I have produced, directed, filmed and edited films for the Scottish Stammering Network (an organisation who I support having lived with a stammer all my life) and the performer Omar Lion Queen. I’ve also created a twice-award winning short film, My First Punk Gig - Derek’s Tale, shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre during the 2023 Docn’ Roll season, and selected by ten festivals. I also have produced and directed A Tight Five Hours, based on my own experiences as a queer stammering comic, again shown at the Glasgow Film Theatre (I may as well move in!) and which continues to be selected for festivals across the world.
I am a videographer, filmmaker, cinematographer, director, producer and editor who can offer a bespoke promotional video service for your organisation or performance act, having specialist experience in the Third Sector or new start-up businesses.
I have a number of developmental projects that capture fascinating real-life stories so am interested in working with other production companies for collaboration and give a platform to those that deserve their experiences to be told.
I also offer services on your video shoot for crew: be it runner, transport etc, camera operator and would consider training opportunities. My passion is film and I will work hard to ensure that your needs in this area are met: please see my testimonials for examples.
